Case study · Denver short-term rental brand · Rebuild and search
A site that was losing traffic, turned into its best month ever: 878 visits.
KushKations is a 420-friendly short-term rental brand in Denver that books guests direct off search. When we started, its search traffic was already slipping: 823 visits from Google in January, then 737, 713, 765 and 760 from February through May.
In June we moved it to a brand-new site: fast, built for phones, with every old page redirected to its new home so no ranking was lost in the move. It still kept dropping, to 707 visits in June and 678 in July. A faster site alone wasn't the fix.
What we changed
We went deep into the search data. The site had dozens of thin old blog posts competing with each other for the same searches, which split Google's attention. We merged fifteen of them into six strong pages, cutting the blog from 47 posts to 33. We built one pillar page around the 420-friendly searches Google was already showing the site for, and we fixed the indexing errors left over from the old site.
It flipped. Site clicks rose 19% in the next 28 days, the new pillar page went from zero to 51 clicks in its first 28 days, and August set a record: 878 visits from Google, the best month the site has ever had.
